There are nations ruled by people, and nations ruled by laws. I had
it defined to me that a mafia is where a group of politicians are corrupt,
and rule by strength; and a democracy is where the rule of law prevails
regardless of the power of any given politician.

     Which are we?

Is there any hope for the individual in a corrupt government, a
government of people who use the power of the office to squash the rights
of others? Would you even try to be a webmaster in a nation that
censored the web, or where you felt you had little chance to become a
small businessman? Because this is about small people like us, harassed
by officials who want their little jollies.

     This isn't about Monica.

What kind of regard for the people of this land did he show when he
sat in the runway in Air Force One, tying up air traffic while he got
himself a really good haircut? That was the point at which a friend and I
knew America was going to have a Real Problem!

What kind of regard for others did he show when he had State Troopers
bring Paula Jones in to a room to have sex with him, not realizing she
wasn't going for it?

What regard for our rights did he and Madam President show when they
proposed a health care plan that would have anyone asking for care that
was not specifically mandated by the book, given a 15 year prison term?
Same for doctors that didn't do what the book said they must! (My doctor
was scared witless when he saw that kind of law!) Where is OUR RIGHT to
choose in that plan??? Who owns our bodies? Us, or The State?

What kind of regard for Facts did he show when he had that plant in
Sudan blown up without adequate evidence, doing so conveniently to
distract others in this nation? (And when I listened to that Dept. of
Defense fellow in the news briefing afterwards, I had the sinking feeling
that guy wasn't convinced himself! He wasn't one of the top brass as I
recall, meaning the top brass didn't want to risk being proven liars.)

What kind of regard did he show for his staff and cabinet when he had
them lie to us about his affairs?

What kind of regard for the law did he show when he put pressure on
others and himself lied under oath in the Paula Jones case?

Now, are you telling me you trust his values? Do you trust him to do
what is right by us???

You decry the unfairness of Microsoft's competitive practices, yet
you condone the use of presidential power to squash the rights of Paula
Jones to redress for sexual harassment?

How would you feel if your boss or some other appointed person with
power to have you fired or close down your business came into your office,
bared his privates, and asked you for a "little favor"?

Not that bad? Now what if YOU were brought to The Governor's office
by ARMED State Police, and then asked the same question?

What then, would YOU think YOUR life was worth???

That is what he did to Paula Jones, and then made sure she wouldn't
win in court.

Where is Justice??? Where is that sense of American Values and all
that America stands for??? Why the heck did we fight that Revolutionary
War? Was it not for Justice, and Equality before the law?

What is the value of human life if you have to fear your government
like my peoples did under the soviet union???

Monica? Who cares about Monica! What about the hundreds of other
women??? You think all of them were fawning over him as Monica was???

> A president's job is to manage both the domestic and the foreign policy of
> the United States of America. We have had many presidents who could be

His job is to represent us. And to use the best JUDGMENT possible in
executing the affairs of state, dealing with crises, etc. etc.

     Has he shown good judgment???

He is supposed to represent solid American Values to the world. Is
having affairs with hundreds of women, as he told Monica, "American
Values"???

> I would vote for him, in spite of the fact that one of his foibles is that
> he likes quick blowjobs from people other than his wife. If for one

Risking AIDS, VD, blackmail, ridicule of the USA, etc. You think the
Chinese didn't exert some influence, when the CIA told the FBI about
Clinton's affairs as picked up on message traffic bound to other
countries??? A man like Clinton is a lolly pop for blackmailers and
spies!!!

> instance I believed that he had sexually harassed Monica, stalked her, or

You say this for Monica. But what of Paula Jones? She WAS harassed!
And you condone his squashing her rights??? And what of the others who
felt similarly squashed???

As to Monica, she wouldn't do that just to any mailman... she was out
for someone who had power. And he was someone who used power to try to
persuade women to do things for him.

I might remind you that no less than fellow Democrat Janet Reno
pushed that investigation! She could have said NO! Yet she felt it
important enough to risk being thrown out by Clinton in saying YES! (Or
dead, if you believe the stories about others who died...)

> demand an apology, sir! How dare you force -us- to give every every last
> Monica's-Cigar-Suggestion detail and show it 24/7 on broadcast news?" Then
> when he apologizes, it isn't sincere enough. He then gets disturbed when he

Congress could have hushed it up. You could have been kept in the
dark. The press could have been pressured. But in the age of Electronic
Democracy, Congress thought it best if we saw what was going on. To do
any less, would be to tell us we don't matter, we are just peons to be
stepped on as Clinton did to Paula Jones.

You think Paula didn't feel harassed, insulted, and oppressed after
that incident???

And how would YOU feel about your web business, if you felt you had
to be careful, felt you might get screwed or shot just because you didn't
toe the line with respect to any governor's wishes???

Is this a nation of Laws, or of guys like Al Capone, who could order
anyone knocked off if he didn't like him???

> grovel, and then laugh at his grovelling? Then CONGRESS allows a GRAND JURY
> tape to be RELEASED!!!! This is the impartial jury that should be trying
> the president in the slow and delibrate process of possible impeachment in
> today's

Point of fact: The constitution says Congress, not a grand jury, has
the job. They are OUR elected representatives. WE are whom they are
responsible to. That is why they put it on the web. (And as webmasters,
we benefited by that indirectly far more than directly -- The Web is now
The Place for Public Disclosure and government publication -- something
you can use in your sales pitches.)

It isn't about sex. It is about upholding the laws of the land, and
making a laughing stock of the office of President.

> Show me that he hasn't been doing his job in foreign & domestic policy.

Complaints that Saddam is not obeying. Problems in Kosevo, Lack of
respect in other parts of the world. Questionable actions with respect to
China...

But more, deep questions now about how much of it is real, and how
much of it is showcase stuff.

> Starr has had long enough and enough of my tax dollars and way too much
> time: I want him to show me that Clinton is a Nixon, creating slurs for

The Lewinski affair was enough of a reason to get people looking at
what was going on. It is illustrative, not a specific point.

> ethnic groups and flagrantly ordering Plumbers to do underhanded dirty
> tricks to people on his "Enemies List", and I will join the rabble in

> Hey, while one of the sessions was going on, he still was able to work for

So you say it is ok to use leagallese to contravene common sense? I
think not. I am not an expert of common law vs legislated law. But while
he may have slipped through the cracks of the main questions, he perjured
himself repeatedly on the other details, from what I heard. AND certainly
perjured himself in the eyes of his bossed -- most of us!

> The only thing he hurt was the sacred bond of marriage between him, and
> Hillary. And I think it is solely between him, and Hillary.

Oh, that is indeed correct. There is polyamory, bigamy, etc. This is
not about sex. It is about honesty TO HIS BOSSES, and responsibility to
uphold the law of the land.

I forget the exact working Buckly used; but he sounded good. We must
be of courage, admit this guy didn't work out, and move on to the next
guy.

> Gore may be capable, I believe that President Clinton is extremely capable.

Of what??? The Republicans set the agenda with respect to economics,
getting voted in as a tide to counter Clinton's agenda. Congress got a
lot of very strong anti- mail regarding their health care proposal

 > Up to now, he has been able to impliment both Democratic &
Republican

>
> But that is just the way I see it. I could probably be wrong. ;}
>
> Okay, okay, I'll try to make that the last peep about the Clinton mess.

No, no politician is going to be perfect. But...

We will have no better politicians than we demand. Time we demanded
more of them, a heck of a lot more! A Sense of Values, a few Virtues, and
a Strong Decent Character!
