And now I write:
This is getting interesting. I am glad it has the off-topic in the
subject so I can set my filter to put it all in the "read if time
permits folder". Nice that I understand how to use filters and don't
complain to the group about off-topic subjects (even if I rarely post
anything of interest myself).
Personally, I have my own values that I set from my understanding of
who I am. Back in 1980 I was all set to vote for Jimmy Carter rather
than Reagan and I argued about it (as usual). Here now in 1998 I have
had a change of heart about who I am; been that way since I first
read Atlas Shrugged on Kibbutz in Israel back in 1982. Perhaps I
will learn something new and I will change; I doubt it.
I like people who share my values. I want to work for them or with
them or around them. I usually hold at a distance someone who I know
does not hold my values. Honesty and Integrity are paramount. I
am no John Galt but that is my goal. I am inspired by those
men/women of vision who live according to my values. I am put-off by
those who live by the seat-of-their-pants.
My children are learning to become human beings. I help them as I
can. They are influenced by those around them. I find it sad when
those in positions of power exhibit a lack of my values. I must try
to explain it to my children. Is their father right?
I recently saw just the tail end of a movie I cannot recall ever
seeing: HUD, with Paul Newman. Seems like that movie is timeless.
