I visited a friend who bought a new 17" monitor. He had been using it for
two months. It was still set to 640x480. I changed it and he was totally
astounded that one could do such a thing. And he has been a technical writer
in Silicon Valley for many years.
Nearly every naive user I've known has thought that the default Netscape
home page was the official start screen. Netscape is one of the most visited
sites on the web, SIMPLY BECAUSE naive users don't know how to change their
opening page.
