Not Easy means --

a) first i didn't know WHY windows was launching another program
b) second i didn't know that *I* could change that preference
c) then i looked for preferences (duh)
d) if you say the above sequence is correct, i'll take your word for it - i
have NO idea what I did - i know i tried to replicate it once w/out success.

I mean -- to go from settings to "folders" -- ? -- why would I chose
"folders" to set settings for applications that are launched by windows??

and *I* have my system set up to show file extensions. the dafault seems to
be "off" -- so most people don't even know what is what.

PLUS, programs like Powerpoint have like a half-dozen extensions. And excel
has a separate one for templates (that isn't pre-registered in Netscape
Navigator).

Give me a Mac - where the computer is smart enough to know a file type <g>.
