Unfortunately, these are all real examples.
A luser is someone who doesn't spend even five minutes to learn
the basics of netiquette, but will spend hours defending the most
egregious violation of netiquette (no matter how gently it's pointed
out to them).
A luser is a spammer, or someone who says "just hit delete".
A luser is someone who doesn't know the difference betweem mail and Usenet.
Or between Usenet and the web. Or between...
A luser is someone who attaches a vcard.vcf to every message they send.
Or who posts HTML to Usenet. Or who sends Word documents to mailing lists.
A luser is someone who sends an "unsubscribe" message to an entire
mailing list. Or to a Usenet newsgroup.
A luser is someone who, after sending a mail message and receiving
no immediate reply, sends it again and again and...
A luser is someone who tries to set up a mail autoresponder but
fails to configure it NOT to respond to mail sent indirectly
(i.e. via a mailing list) and therefore renders every mailing list
they're on ineffective until they're forcibly unsubscribed.
A luser is someone who quotes an entire article, including the header
and the signature, in order to add a one-line response.
A luser is someone who sends mail saying "The web site isn't working"
without specifying which web site, what they mean by "not working"
or anything else.
A luser is someone who sends mail but then configures their service's
filters to prevent a reply from the recipient.
A luser is someone who thinks Bill Gates invented the Internet and
that everyone on it runs Windows on a PC.
A luser is someone who will expect a piece of software to exhibit
properties usually reserved for clairvoyants.
A luser is someone who complains that a Usenet FAQ is "spam".
A luser is someone completely opposed to the idea of reading a manual,
a book, a FAQ, or anything else that might help them not be such a luser.
A luser is someone who, when presented with a wonderful program that
neatly accomplishes a task in a robust, efficient, reliable manner,
far better than any of the alternatives, will complain that it does
not have a point-and-drool interface.
A luser is someone who calls the help desk to report "the Internet is down".
A luser is someone who manages to recursively delete all of their
files and directories.
I could go on, but I think you get the idea. "luser" itself is
the combination of "loser" and "user" into one succinct word that
is rarely applied to people who make honest mistakes, but is instead
applied to the deliberately clueless.
