The prompt root@localhost IS linux. You are in a shell (kinda
like a Dos shell only more powerful).
What are you trying to do ? If you want to run XWindows, you
need to install the X windows package (kinda like installing
windows, only more difficult). Then to start it you run startX or X.
It should tell you exactly what you have to run to start it.
