Oh, a few more commands you might like...
apropos
as in "apropos directory", which then spews forth a list of cone
liner's about commands that have something to do with the word you typed.
man
as in "man ls", for the parameters to the ls command, so you can get a
directory listing the way you want it.
With that, and a fertile imagination, you can probably do most of what
you want done... Well... keep yourself amused, at any rate.
