<chuckle> You're up, running, and logged in as root. You are now lord
and master of your own Unix box. Try typing "startx" (assuming you
let Linux install the X window system when you installed it) and you
should get dropped into a GUI -- where you'll have access to all the
GUI tools, documentation, various help tools, etc.
One of the things that some people find unsettling about Unix -- and
your current circumstance is an example of it -- is that it tends
to be very low-key about announcing its successes. When you run
commands at the shell level, you'll find that, in general,
"success == silence". Some folks have decried this as user-unfriendly;
I personally am very, very glad that the machine keeps its mouth
shut instead of bothering me constantly by letting me know that
my last command did exactly what I thought it would do. (Contrast
with VMS, which will NOT shut up. Pfeh. Blech. And other noises
of derision.)
