I'm working on a new wrinkle for my art and craft show locator pages
and need some help. I've seen a couple of implementations of an image
that follows the mouse cursor around on the page and wonder if anyone
has some references for how it's done.
What I'm trying to do is implement a proximity search. I thought it
would be nice to have a circle representing a 200 mile radius (or
whatever they select) move around over an imagemap of the US. The
click would then pass the imagemap x,y coordinates which I could
translate into latitudes and longitudes for the geographic origin to
use in the database search.
I'm OK with the database stuff, but the visual cue of a selection
circle would be a nice feature. My current user population is almost
75% version 4+ browsers and I'll include another method of selecting a
starting point for those without the necessary technology.
