I do a servlet (.war file) deployment which runs under Tomcat. This does add a level of complexity to the trouble-shooting of an application, but it makes deployment a snap.

Step 1) copy WAR file to Tomcat webapps folder.
Step 2) start Tomcat
Step 3) There's no step 3 (said in a very Jeff Goldblum style)

This assumes that the hosting provider is giving you access to a database that you can use.

Thank you very much for the speedy reply to my questions.

A while ago, while browsing the WO developers list, I run into your
site ( the one with a couple of photos, blog, etc...).
I'm wondering - if it is not a secret - how are you hosting it? Is it
a special provider, who supports OS X + Web Objects?

It's hosted on my own Mac Mini thanks to my company ClickSpace. Running on Mac OS X Server 10.4.

But deployment - taking into account that I would like to have a WO
based site - is not clear at all. ( Which provider to choose, what to
ask him for, etc...).

I'd try to either get Mac OS X provider, but those are quite expensive, or hosting your own server (Xserve or Mac Mini) at a colocation or getting your own Linux server with root access and the ability to install software on it (the all embedded WO application with WebObjects and your own frameworks included and the mod_WebObjects adaptor).

Examples:

http://www.xservhosting.com/

Others here on the list might have better options, I haven't done that yet but might do that in the future. Personally I prefer Mac OS X for the one reason that I know how to work with it, how to secure it, how to install things and so on.
