I think the splash page is 'permanent' in that we want to have a better way to explain the project in high level terms, as we've done with these pages. I think the 'temporary' part of it is the specific look and feel and the exact content. In other words, I think we want to keep the idea, but the implementation will probably change. As part of the reworking of the site, I think we want to incorporate this a little better in terms of the overall site structure rather than being standalone piece.
