Sunny, It was never my intention to make a pitch for Claredi. My intention was, in responding to Rama's assertion that testing and certification are the same thing, to explain the difference that we make between testing and certification.
However, given that other testing vendors do not share in our understanding of certification, and it seems like each vendor has a different understanding of certification, if the response had been a "generic" response it would have projected our understanding of certification onto the other vendors, causing even more confusion. Thus, I made it clear that the description of certification I was giving was our description. I was not trying to say we are the only ones that get "it", but to define what is "it" that we do. Others have a different understanding of "it" than we do. If the point came across as a commercial, it was certainly not my intention to do so, and I apologize again. Personally I would like to know what are the other vendors' description of their certification. If nothing else so the industry can make better informed decisions. It would clear some of the mystery. The problem and challenge will be that when you define certification your way, it is very difficult to do so without saying "this is what WE mean by..." Maybe Marcallee or the workgroup co-chairs can help here? As for Patrice's and Mike's job, as I said in my original message, it was great. It is, as far as I know, the very first time in WEDI's history that there has been a side by side comparison of results from different vendors. The fact that "I" would have done it different is to be expected, since I am not a neutral party but one of the vendors in the panel. I bet you or Ed would have done it different too. In any case, I applaud their efforts and welcome further activities of this nature. Finally, as for co-authoring a paper on "Business Certification", I may be able to help, but first I would like to know what is that you call "Business Certification". Perhaps you could describe it in this list, and then, if the group leadership wants to have a white paper on that topic, they can make that decision.
