I must admit, I had a similar issue, for me I was locking up repeatedly 
weekly and then sometimes daily.

I started on a separate project to remove the lcd display from my WS, by 
using weewx-sdr, but it hasn't worked out well for me, see other threads.

For me the solution has been very simple, as a post somewhere mentioned a 
similar issue, but their problem was a mechanical or quality issue releated 
to the internal wire antenna in the LCD display.
I dismantled my lcd display and carefully re-routed the wire inside the lcd 
to avoid it being trapped by sharp edges of the case, and that has fixed 
it, I haven't had a lock up since.

Worth considering ?
