What some music from Prince from Purple Rain? Also, before he was the major
pervert/child molester, I loved Michael Jackson especially the era of Thriller?
Other Suggestions
No Doubt
The Cranberries
Queen-Bohemian Rhapsody
Elton John
My music tastes vary so it is hard to name some songs without knowing genre
since I am music from the 70s and 80s.

Good call on XTC, Julie - a lot of their songs have a sing-songy beat
to them kids love.
Other fun bands for about-to-be-ridiculously hip kids:
1) They Might Be Giants - Albums - Flood. Flansburgh's State Songs.
Dial-a-Song. Lincoln.
she's probably heard some of their songs on TV already.
2) Barenaked Ladies - Albums - greatest hits, Gordon, Maroon, Stunt.
See above, plus, their improv songs are usually hilarious.
3) Trashcan Sinatras - Cake. Pretty brilliant wordplay and nursery
rhyme lyrics over pitch-perfect Britpop.
4) DaVinci's Notebook - Albums - Brontosaurus, Bendy's Law - now-
defunct local a capella group with a wicked smart sense of humor.
Kids dig 'em.
I'll concur that Dylan, Joplin, Hendrix, et al, are great artists,
but I'd figure their music is best appreciated in the teenage
years...and on vinyl!
