Late to the party as usual. Slipped back into lurking mode again. I was going
to sit this one out but since I'm scared to go out because of the ice and have
nothing else to do well hell I'll chime in. I loved music as a kid, and loved
to raid my parents' record collection, so this is what I was listening to at
around 6 yo, over and over, rocking in an old wooden chair, wearing earphones
that looked like a couple of catcher's mitts on a squirrel.

  Mac Davis
  Charlie Rich
  Richard Harris
  Sergio Mendes and Brasil 66
  Elton John
  Don McLean
  Peter, Paul, and Mary
  Quicksilver Messenger Service
  The Rascals
  The Hollies
  Jim Croce

And I knew what the funny smell was. Fuckin' hippies. No wonder I have no
ambition.

I agree this is an amazing idea!! However, since I live 6-8 hours
away, and am a technological troglodyte, I would be hard pressed to
participate.

Also, wanted to thank everyone for your suggestions! I made the CD
last night, and there's many group suggestions included...XTC, They
Might Be Giants (that was a given), CCR, Beatles, Joni Mitchell
(well, I AM an organic inspector, so I had to have Big Yellow
Taxi...), Barenaked Ladies, Clash, Warren Zevon, Elvis Costello,
David Bowie, and B-52's on it. As well as some other stuff...Mr.
Organic suggested Izzy's Somewhere over the Rainbow/What a Wonderful
World, and I came up with a few more (including Grateful Dead, and
had to stop quickly from putting on Uncle John's Band on it....I
think she'd love it, and I'm not too worried but I shudder to think
what her dad-the-ex would think of here singing "God damn, well, I
declare" at the top of her lungs, like I'd teach her...

Saturday we head to the Reptiles and Amphibians day at the local
Natural History museum to hold snakes and pet Gila monsters for her
birthday. Thanks to you all for helping make it special.
