I just bought Jim Croce's greatest hits double album. I started to hear so many of his songs on the oldies station here that I wanted them all in one place because I realized that all his songs are distinctively Jim Croce-ish. Then again all of James Taylor's songs are recognizable as James Taylor even if you haven't heard them before. As soon as I heard Time in a Bottle and I'll Have to Say I Love You in a song I realized they were both Jim Croce--they almost sound like the same song. I love Jim Croce's music. Didn't he do Bad Bad Leroy Brown too? I loved that song long before I knew who Jim Croce was. His songs are all "sing-alongable".

I was going to sit this one out but since I'm scared to go out because of the ice and have nothing else to do well hell I'll chime in. I loved music as a kid, and loved to raid my parents' record collection, so this is what I was listening to at around 6 yo, over and over, rocking in an old wooden chair, wearing earphones that looked like a couple of catcher's mitts on a squirrel. > > Mac Davis > Charlie Rich > Richard Harris > Sergio Mendes and Brasil 66 > Elton John > Don McLean > Peter, Paul, and Mary > Quicksilver Messenger Service > The Rascals > The Hollies > Jim Croce > > And I knew what the funny smell was.
