APC does make a stand-alone box that requires no expansion chassis, etc. It
is called an AP9312TH. YOu can find it at their web site under the
environmental monitoring section along with the older unit that works in a
chassis.
I have not used this "new" unit, only the older non-stand-alone chassis
based unit.
I agree with the comments on the humidity sensor. It also acts odd in the
presence of strong vibration (but then, hey, so do I!). This is a problem
for us in a particular location, but I imagine most sites do not have large
thermal vibration testors near their sensors, so it shouldn't be an issue.
You can find info at:
http://www.apcc.com/resource/include/techspec_index.cfm?base_sku=AP9312TH&la
nguage=en&LOCAL.APCCountryCode=WW
Hope this helps, Dan. p.s. The URL is a single line.

Dan, have you got a url that gives more information? I found the page at
APC
that has it associated with the smart card that goes into the ups. Looking
for
accuracy figures on the temp/humidity, security on the http and telnet and
what the puppy looks like. I take it this is the box listed at $399?
Thanks
