I suggest you log a feature request here:

http://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/

Indicate you would like a new markup, like <nowrap>TEXT HERE</nowrap> or
similar.
I believe it would just simply parse out to something like:

<span style="white-space: nowrap">TEXT HERE</span>

or its CSS equivalent.
