I still believe <nowrap> is preferable; for three reasons:
1. It will hardly ever be used. 2. The few times it is used, by those few who care, the tag is pretty self-explanatory to any newbie who stumbles on it in the edit window. 3. We don't need more (complex) work for the parser... with all the crazy extensions out there today, we need better performance, not worse.
