This would definitely be the nicest solution. Sadly, we discovered that adding a new parser option has the issue that it isn't used in the key until the cache entry for a page is purged. This puts us in a catch-22 where our cache invalidation won't be seen until the cache is purged. This could be a bug or it could be deliberate.
