Technical discussion: I think that there are ways to use the existing mediawiki template system to create buttons which, when clicked, could add categories to pages, for instance. This template could then show up on pages that contain community-created resources. The community could then use them to "rate" resources as to whether they are complete or not. When a resource reaches a threshold rating: This both places a category on the page/object, and creates a visual header that shows this is reviewed and trusted by the community (plus who clicked the button that states they trust it. Displaying who clicked likely needs an actual PHP extension it could be that much of this can be done right through POST and GET to Mediawiki API). The other thing that is easy enough to use (sorry if it has already been mentioned in this context) is http://wikieducator.org/Special:Book functionality that already exists in WE. A teacher can create and maintain books and those can easily be automatically collected/categorized/shared. > I also like your idea for announcing which pages or projects need further > work - -we could organise international "working parties" or "barn raising" > events to help with these tasks. > > Keep the good ideas flowing :-) > > Cheers > Wayne > > > > > > On 4 July 2010 09:12, MALLAMIBRO <[email protected]> wrote: >> >> I think the Index should be the first thing on the agenda. >> Then a system could be put in place that ensures that creators of new >> pages on WE (projects) classify them in terms of the index before >> starting out. >> this way, every page will be under a specific subject heading and its >> level of completeness could then be monitored by the Moderators of the >> subject heading (Each subject heading shouild have vounteer moderators >> ready to dedicate time and efforts to keeping the section well >> arranged). >> Moderators could periodically announce which pages or projects require >> further work, this way interested members could team up to make their >> contributions. >> >> Ibrahim K.
