I strangely like daytime pub meets now, having stopped all alcohol 18 months ago. I never liked lunch time drinking. Now, I go to the pub at lunch time without the temptation to drink, since... I don't drink. I take your points. But many meetups do have booze. For example, the "free beer and pizza" of the long gone "London Wiki Wednesdays". London Wikimedia Meetup Number 94 Date and time: Sunday 14th June 2015 — 13:00 onwards Nearly 100 meetings. A regular time slot (second Sunday of the month) is a part of the success.... IMHO. Same idea for the London Unix User Group (way back when).
