Going from Roxio 5 to other software may give you problems with any CD-RW packet mode discs you have created - The data should all be readable from the discs, but you may find that the new software shows additional sub-directories that written by Roxio to contain control information used by Roxio, but inaccessible with other software - No problem in that you do not need to read those subdirectories, but a real pain if you want to copy directory trees back to the hard drive as those Roxio control entries cannot be copied - forcing you to do the copy by selecting the individual files/sub-directories while excluding the Roxio special bits.
I ended up re-installing Roxio, and converting all the -RW media from the packet-mode - copy the data to hard drive and save as a -R platter JimB. Also - beware of having multiple versions of the -RW sensing software (e.g. INCD) active at the same time - and OEM versions of Nero may have been specialised to only work with the drive with which they were supplied I found that, when I installed a second drive (DVD/CD-RW combo) alongside the existing CD-RW/DVD-R drive - both supplied with the same (according to the version number, and sub-number) Nero software - the drive that came with the actual installed copy would work, but only properly if the other drive was un-installed (power lead pulled out) - install the other copy of the software to use the other drive, not forgetting to pull the power lead from the other drive. Got the retail version and had no further problems - But it had also been a real pain uninstalling Roxio, and the Pinnacle - Instant CD/DVD software - see the support entries on both their sites for how to do the uninstall so you don't get the blue screen at boot-up. ( Oh and a good backup is a very good idea before trying the uninstall) JimB. --- Original Message ----- From: "James Maki" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Tuesday, March 15, 2005 4:43 PM Subject: Re: DVD integration and new DVD burner software > > -----Original Message----- > > From: MARC SIMS > > Bob. > > > > You may need to flash the firmware in the DVR-108BK and the > > He purchased a DVR-109, not the older 108 version. > > > Lite-On CDRW and update and patch Nero Ultra Edition to > > version 6.6.0.8a which is the newest version. > > He stated he has an old bundled version of Nero, so I doubt he can update.
