What very-complicated setup do you have that you think this is totally useless for? And what do you want to happen when you reply to an e-mail? I prefer for the same account to be used that it was sent to.

If I understand Bernie correctly, he has several email addresses that don't
have their own POP access, so he has them configured to forward to a POPable mailbox. Once a message is forwarded, the downloading account is unable to ascertain the original 'To' address (or more correctly, the SMTP 'RCPT TO' address). In order to get around this problem, one needs as
many separate POP accounts as the number of distinct reply identities.
