I will be getting my DSL enabled this Wednesday. (Cable company assimilated
by the Borg of cable, Comcast, and the service is lousy as Comcast hasn’t
taken over the internet side and the old company has no reason to maintain
it, so it has gone downhill rapidly.) After review of several web sources,
it appears that with my house wired the way it is, no filters will be
needed. SBC provided a 2Wire 1800HG Gateway. Since I am not sure I
understand why a filter is not needed, I would like to get concurrence from
any/some of the experienced and respected people on this list. Here is the
current wiring setup:

Separate line run from the outside box to the phone plug into which I will
be plugging the DSL modem (gateway.) As the modem will not share the line
with anything else, do I have to put a filter at the outside box? Several
web pages I have read seem to indicate no filter will be necessary as the
only place the voice line meets the DSL line (from the modem) is at the
outside box.

TIA

Chris
