Jim,
I had a similar e-mail exchange with Symantec exchange about installing
SystemWorks/Personal Firewall 2004 as an upgrade to their 2003 versions
(they were free AMIR). I wrote, "I can't install SystemWorks 2004 on my
computer as an upgrade to SystemWorks 2003." They replied, (and this is a
direct quote from the e-mail) "I understand from your message that you are
not able to install GoBack." WHAT!? I never even mentioned GoBack in the
original e-mail!
Now, remember that I previously had SystemWorks 2003 installed and Symantec
Tech support went on to say, "Please refer the link provided below: Title:
'Speed Disk 5.1 and Norton Utilities 2001/2002 compatibility with RAID'
Notice that the title refers to Norton Utilities 2001/2002, not 2004! To
make matters worse, the link included was not available! I was never able to
resolve the problem, except to switch to Avast! Antivirus and Sysgate
Firewall. I think that may be the point of tech support. They just wear you
out with non-answers and related gibberish till you give up.
P.S. I am not sure if free telephone support is available from symantec or
ahead. It certainly wouldn't be worth the cost if it is anything like their
e-mail support.
JMHO,
Jim Maki
