DirecWay is still expensive!
They know they have a virtual monopoly with people out in the boonies. I
and a few others used their service only because we couldn't wait for other
hispeed services to be rolled out. Since then I've had cable & currently
have dsl. I never cared for their FAP [fair access policy] because they
consider a very narrow group of hours & not the day as a whole. So what if
someone wants to download a cd image from MSFT but their FAP also doesn't
seem to consider that if one wants to download a legal image file that the
sooner they are done the sooner the bandwidth is released. They just don't
want to monitor user trends as it's easier to put a governor on it which
amounts to bandwidth restrictions no matter what they claim & it paints
everyone with a pirated brush but they don't care since they have you
boonie dwellers pretty much locked up. As Bill has stated, is it better
than dialup, surely but would you want to jump to cable or dsl if they
should ever become available in your area, most definitely.
