When I opened the message, I found that Carl Houseman had written:

Ah!!!!

I can't even get to a command line!~

What it does is sort of "flash" the command space (I call it DOS---I'm an old DOS horse)......not enough even to recognize and the regular screen
(desktop) comes back up.

Now this points to another similar problem!

Just to touch all the bases, did you go to "Start", "Run", type CMD in the
"open box", and hit "OK".
(Then type in               nslookup update.microsoft.com )

If it "still" does what you said, (opps... oh well.......)
