If I wiped it out, installed XP and the rest of whatever I want on it, if it
would work correctly?
I have owned several Dell laptops (Inspiron 8100 and 8200), and
successfully did fresh XP installs on them. The Windows XP CD
will be missing some of the drivers you need (mostly sound and modem)
but it's enough to get you going. Then you can use Dell's driver
CD or download the missing drivers from Dell's website.
