Re forcing you to 'buy' old kit.
That fulfils the skule's accounting and disposal needs in 1 document
They got more than the 'residual' value for them
You took on any liability for inappropriate disposal.
And - don't forget the new regulations to come into force soon won't let
them be dumped in landfill or incinerated
So - they'll probably be shipped to China, refurbished, and sold on to 3rd
world countries
Then again the BBC B's were good lab systems because of all the control
cards you could buy/mod/create,
not forgetting that they had the fastest comm ports available at the time
and would act as a Teletex enabled/recording TV
Had a couple of them as ' IT facility demo systems ' when I worked for a
council
with
Digital thermometer, lightmeter, pantograph, plotter, mini robotic mouse
and a set of relays - reed switches, activating mains voltage low power,
activating 30 capable amp mains switches

----------------
Just on the note of BBC's we replaced 60 BBC computers in a school a few
years back. In order to get the work we had to buy them all, screens,
drives etc, we paid a £1 each machine for them. The local authority
paid for the skip that we dumped them into and for the disposal. We
weren't allowed to sell or give them to another school !!!!
