My Windows XP has started locking up on a very irregular and infrequent basis.
It locks up so hard that I have to use the reset button to get back into
operable Windows. I have AsusProbe monitoring and keeping a history on the CPU
and motherboard temperatures and the voltages and have no problems there. If it
is hardware related it seems the lockups would still be irregular, but
frequent. I log out when I leave home. A favorite time for it to be locked up
is when I return and attempt to log back in. It is locked up and could have
been locked up for an undetermined period of time. I may start by unplugging
all USB devices and run it awhile this way.

Would your bets be on Formatting Drive C and doing a clean install or on
changing the motherboard, to resolve this problem? As long as the lockups do
not become more frequent, I will live with this problem for awhile before
resorting to either of those possible solutions.
