You'd probably want
quickpar (for par2 recovery blocksets and joining split files)
( if you need to have multiple parts of the file parts (see OE) then use
_2. _3. etc as extensions to the name before the .filetype
smartpar (for Par recovery filesets one recovery file will replace 1 missing
file)
ydec ( for yenc conversions)
winrar ( for combining the split parts)
I'm told that Grabit will allow you to select a secondary server to search
for bits it doesn't find on the primary one
so you can use a free server for the primary and bulk of your loading, and
the premium one for any fills needed
I find that Gravity is reasonable - but it doesn't go past a missing part,
so if part 3 of 200 is the only part missing, all you can get is the first
1% of the file
That's where OE can be considered..
Note OE (on my system ) seems to have a limit of 500 parts at a time
that can be selected for (right click and combine and decode)
Also -
depending on the transmitted block type - it may produce the actual files
wanted,
save all
or
a load of ??? that you will need to saveas ( default email type) and then
pass into yenc for decoding
(alt F A enter alt F C to save the data and close that window)
- don't let OE start searching the ?? for hyperlinks or it will appear to
lockup
and if you kill off OE then you'l probably have large files left in the temp
internet area that you will need to manually clear out.
also with OE you need to monitor and cleanup the dbf files ( properties
local file remove messages and then compact)
and .. the beauty of OE is it will allow you to save incomplete binary
files, and pass them through yenc so par2 can recover the missing bits
Re quickpar -
I use that to create recovery sets for files I'm going to archive to CD/DVD
( create an empty file called a.par2, select it, select new and select the
files to be included in the recovery set .
now the a.par2 file can be deleted.
If you are sending stuff yourself then make the part size a multiple of the
recovery block size
