I have Windows XP Pro SP2 and IE 7 Beta 2 running on my Asus A7N8X-E Deluxe. I haven't upgraded to a Sata HD unit yet until I upgrade the mobo to a 64-bit system and I'll run WIndows XP Pro 64-bit edition.
So far I have encountered no problems with IE7 Beta 2 and the two best features that I like about IE7 Beta 2 are the tabbed pages and the RSS feed features. These are the only two justifications that I can see as a reason to choose IE 7 besides the point that its not secure but what can you expect no other browser such as Opera or even Firefox for that matter isn't secure either. So security can never be 100% guraranteed even Mac OS running on the new new Mac systems with Intel cpus running Windows XP has shown its not secure either. My ATI 9600 AIW card when capturing streaming video running through NeroVIsion 4 does show some video frame and sound lag of 3 to 5 seconds between the sound and frame sequences. This happens when I use the ATI TV application also. My SB Audigy 2 gives me crystal clear 24 and 32-bit stereo 5.1 surround sound without any problem when recording audio and using either 32-bit or 24-bit mastering at bitrate of 192 kps but still gives a slight sound lag to video only when capturing video. mobo: Asus A7N8X-E Deluxe OS: Windows XP Pro SP2 (with current security patches) HD Unit: Maxtor Diamond MAx Plus 9 200 GB PATA CPU: AMD Athlon XP 1500+ Memory: 512MB Video: ATI 9600 AIW AGP Pro From: Gary Funck > Sent: Friday, April 21, 2006 9:19 PM > To: [email protected] > Subject: Re: XP Pro crash-Lost folders on some drives You have company when it comes to flaky behavior on this particular mobo. I see a similar failure mode that you're seeing. Basically, often but not always, when it fails (once a week/so) I'm usually moving the trackball on my wireless USB mouse, and often there is something significant going on in the background (ATI's TV tuner application displaying TV, a network download and so on). I slightly suspect some issue with USB interacting with something else, but the failure is so infrequent and the conditions so variable that it is difficult to tell. Since it failed the same way on a clean install using a different cpu and slower memory I don't think the problem lies in that area. Oh one more glitch that I've seen on all three versions of this mobo that I tried is bad sound performance. Sometimes the sound lags the TV, sometimes it is choppy or has slight intermittent outages (almost inaudible they're so quick); Marc Sims Data Technician I Prince George's Community College -- ---------------------------------------- WIN-HOME Archives: http://PEACH.EASE.LSOFT.COM/archives/WIN-HOME.html Contact the List Owner about anything: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Official Win-Home List Members Profiles Page http://www.besteffort.com/winhome/Profiles.html
