Hi
Replaced the 40 pin 80 wire cable with no change and still not able
to format the
disk because of hangs. Then changed the IDE header and tried again and
it started
but windows was broken. Formated the disk and installed win xp pro sp2
and other
software, no hangs, only restarts requiered by windows and the other
programs.
It ran for 5 hours with no internet connection while I installed
antivirus etc. from
usb storage drive and others from their cds.
How can changing the IDE header change the opperation of the
computer like
this, if it has??? The computer ran for 3 weeks when it was first put
back together
after replacing the mb without any serious problems until it started
hanging, at first
1 time per week , then 2, then everyday, until it was every 15 minutes
or less.
Tommorow I will connect it to the internet and get windows updates
and others.
