Rhetorical statements:IMHO DHCP and has a lot to do with accesing the net if
your PC is connected to
a DHCP server without using static IP in a multiple Domain subnet environment.
DHCP works like a phone
directory by assigning randomly generated IP addresses to a PC which the DHCP
server creates. They
are temporarly assigned and expire when a pc either logs off the network,
shutsdown or renew which refreshes
the DHCP IP when a user requests to do so.
As for phone numbers how else can you or anyone else call you if you don't have
one
or know their phone number.

DHCP has nothing to do with accessing the internet as all it does is
assign ip address automatically. Just because you have a phone number
doesn't mean that you can call anyone unless you know their number.
If you don't know or don't dial then nothing happens.
If each machine Mom & Pop don't try to connect to a DNS server then
they'll NEVER have Internet access even tho they have an IP address
that was assigned by a DHCP server.
