I would expect a simple reboot of one or the other of the problem machines would result in a different IP, or from START>RUN cmd, run IPCONFIG /RELEASE then IPCONFIG /RESTORE.
This should get you a unique IP address on all of them; if not, I would try shutting completely down and bringing up the system as I previously suggested. - Bill Hatcher [EMAIL PROTECTED] - -----Original Message----- From: Windows Home/SOHO [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Behalf Of Jim Dykes Sent: Tuesday, May 16, 2006 21:06 To: [email protected] Subject: Re: [WINHOME] Network Question When I opened the message, I found that Rick Cogan had written: > When you use ipconfig you are querying the setup on that PC not any others. Yes, I know. I just thought maybe when I query LAPTOP I might look for something awry......................and lo and behold, I found it!! > What are the IP addresses shown by ipconfig for the LAPTOP and its gateway, > DHCP server, and DNS? NOTE: I have a problem, I guess. The IP address for DAD and LAPTOP are the same. This stuff is above my level of "unexpertise", but I know that shouldn't be. However, I don't know who/what assigns numbers to who/what, nor how to change them if necessary... -- ---------------------------------------- WIN-HOME Archives: http://PEACH.EASE.LSOFT.COM/archives/WIN-HOME.html Contact the List Owner about anything: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Official Win-Home List Members Profiles Page http://www.besteffort.com/winhome/Profiles.html
