Honestly, do you think you are the typical user?

I'm not a typical user either, but then again, neither are most of my friends. We are all always downloading huge files and playing (often bandwidth intensive) games on line. Those of us with cable broadband (4Mbps/512kbps) often tease the one guy in the group with DSL because he crawls along at 1.5Mbps/384kbps. :-D My provider has just done some major system upgrades, and supposedly higher speeds are coming soon. I can't wait. <drool> The only time I have too much bandwidth is when the machine on the other end has a slower connection than I do.

I think that there are a lot of us non-typical users out there, but we are probably still in the minority versus people like my parents. They mostly surf the web and read e-mail. The only large files they download are software updates. So for them, and the millions out there like them, paying a premium for higher bandwidth would definitely be a waste.

What if the hokey-pokey really is what it's all about?
