I think -- or maybe I hope -- in a few years we'll see more and more providers getting away from asymmetic connections as more people need more bandwidth upstream. All it would take, really, is some good old fashioned competition. I'm lucky enough to be in an area where cable and DSL go head to head for customers and there may soon be a second cable company in the mix.
