For some types of applications to really work -- like full motion two-way video -- providers are going to have to get away from the asymmetric model and stop capping upstream speeds at a fraction of the downstream. I know in the beginning they were doing it to discourage people from running servers from home, but is there any other real reason to cap the upstream so low?
