This is exactly why I wipe machine I get for moi' & start from
scratch but I guess nOObs wouldn't know any better. <ROTFLMAO>
Has nothing to do with noobs... has to do with time and hunting drivers and
software down so things like the DVD burner work without buying more
software. (Oh, and a licensed copy of the OS helps - not everyone gets MAPS
or MSDN.) I did that with my desktop and tablet and it's not fast or fun.
(Will be doing it to my tablet as soon as set up finishes - i might have it
running with just the basics by noon.)
My SIL had me order her a new dell a few weeks back - she had a norton sub
and asked what to due about McAfee. I told her not to use it and to install
Norton. She didn't want the hassle and left it until i went up last weekend
- two weeks with no protection beyond what Winxp sp2 offers. For whatever
reason, hers uninstalled easier than the one that came on phil's new
computer (ordered a few days before hers) but both required several reboots.
Controling the software installed by building your own is not an option for
many people - myself included. The systems, 19" LCD included, i got for
hubby and SIL were nearly $800 with shipping and tax. I could never build a
system for that and have the same features and have up and running in 4 days
from the day i ordered it - spending about 1 hour to put it "together". I
have yet to see anyone build a decent tablet or laptop... and only MSDN
subscribers can get Tablet PC OS. (i think vista will change this.)
