Russ- make sure you are following the "WiFi buddies" thread. Lots of good
discussion. The first time I powered up my DSL Gateway (has Ethernet,
wireless and USB connections) I changed the default access password and
turned off both wireless and USB as I didn't use them. When I bought a
wireless music bridge (allows my computer sounds to be played over the
living room stereo, so I can access the 2000+ songs I ripped off my CD
collection) I had to re-enable the wireless. I did provide a name for the
wireless and disabled the SSID broadcast. Since I was able to see 4
wireless networks (I assume they are my neighbor's) I figured if they
weren't savvy enough to use encryption or blank out their SSID transmissions
I was probably safe from them by blanking mine.
