What is this mysterious wireless router with no instructions?
Make/Model? Post the entire nameplate.

More than likely, there is an instruction manual on the CD that came with,
or on the web.

I'm not sure what anyone else is saying, but yes, you can connect the
wireless router router from one of its switch ports to a switch port on your
wired router. In this config it is just another switch and wireless access
point, not a router. Make sure you disable DHCP on the wireless router,
your other router is handling that.

As for preventing others from accessing your wireless network, first make it
work without security. Then look for a configuration on the router for WPA
(not WEP). If you can choose WPA-PSK or WPA-TKIP choose that. Set a nice
long PSK (pre-shared key, a.k.a. wireless password) that is random letters
and numbers. Take the option to disable SSID broadcast.

On the XP laptop, you want to configure wireless using Windows XP, not
software that came with the wireless card. This process varies greatly
depending on the wireless NIC in the laptop, so make/model of laptop and/or
make/model of wireless card are important if you want detailed help.

Subject: Re: Wireless home network

There is no supplied manual. All the directions amount to is "Install CD
BEFORE plugging in". Hence the google searches and the question to this
list (I prefer not to install software unless absolutely necessary).
Therefore I have no documentation on how to place two routers on one
system (I honestly didn't think it could be done).

So you are saying hook this new wireless router into my existing system
but not to plug it into the WAN port (I did not understand what he meant
when he said that, thanks). This then would make it just another switch
right? My original router would then handle all the IP addressing as
usual. Okay, cool I like that idea better than replacing my existing router.

I have now read all the "WiFi buddies" thread and I donot like the idea
of someone able to pop onto my system. The documentation supplied with
this router sucks. One leaflet telling me to use the CD before plugging
in the supplied USB adapter and an even smaller one for the adapter card
he bought. At least when I bought my router it had enough documentation
that I could figure it out.
