Sorry for sounding illiterate - I did not spell check the last post

To add...

Years ago (before there were PC's) I bought a Pioneer switch box for 
my audio system.  Same idea, except this was before we were being 
charged for an MOV pill (surge prot).  Most good audio devices had 
them at that time.  

You guess it, my VCR clock would blink all the time, except I use it 
so seldom that it's disconnected, unless I need it.
