On some list somewhere recently, I said for someone to clean
(carefully of course) in and around the socket of the battery.
I meant with a q-tip and some 99% Isopropyl Alcohol,
but instead they blew out the batttery socket and area
around it with compressed air and reported to the list
that did the trick... Go figure...

As far as below, he is right. It is the oils from your fingers
that you do not want on the battery. Some users have reported
that getting oils like this has made some batteries look weak when
the connections failed to make a good contact... I try to keep
the batteries real clean and have never had any odd battery problems...

There are lots of other things that might come into play, (like a
cracked solder joint on the PC MB), but those are at a much
higher technical level to repair... I have not soldered on a MB
in years... <grin>

From: "EL Doctorow" I watched as the RS guy picked up the battery with his finger and thumb and said I was told not to do that and that you could zap the battery and he said not in a million years not enough voltage in the battery to make a cicuit with your fingers.
