I just got a freebee Toshiba laptop and spare HDD. With the 3GB drive with Win98 installed, it boots up fine. With the 6GB drive with Win2k, windows starts and before it finishes it reboots. Is this a bad drive, bad OS install or something else. This is a Tecra 520cdt P166 with 48MB ram. The Win2K drive is in a Toshiba caddy but not from a Tecra520. Will Win2K fail if there is less than the official minimum of 64MB ram?

Since the second drive is NOT from this computer, but IS from
the NT line of OSs, I think the problem is likely that it is trying
to load drivers that are "wrong" for the MB, too close but still
wrong, etc... It could even be a HAL problem...

Try booting to safe mode and see if that works.
