My experience, particularly with XP Home, is this does NOT persist after a reboot, in that case it says your network connection was not connected, sometimes you can click on it and it will ask for you password and then let you in, other times not. Actually, more often not, or it will say something like multiple credentials cannot be used to login to the same server or some such nonsense.
