They can't. Which is why "prefer" *implies* having a choice, which would
exclude those not knowing about cli. Somehow, people that do not know cli

exists, along with newbies, sneaked into the equation, since I stated
"regardless of how competent they are with a **command line**."

True ! But I said "some folks prefer a gui regardless of how competent th
ey
are with a command line." IOW: just because a person is VERY competent, a
nd
even comfortable, with a cli does NOT mean they would NOT prefer a gui.

My response was/is to the statement of: "Does it need one [gui] ? Or has
 M$
denuded our ability to read ?" No it does not NEED one [gui]. But some fo
lks
would PREFER one [gui], but NOT because "M$ denuded our ability to read",

but SIMPLY because they PREFER one [gui].

If two *similar* products are offered, one cli driven, the other gui driv
en,
I would pick the gui driven product. But NOT because "M$ denuded our abil
ity
to read", but SIMPLY because I PREFER the gui. If I need to, I can slip i
nto
cli mode quite easily. But I PREFER the gui mode. I am sure there are oth
ers
so inclined. "Or has M$ denuded our ability to read ?" just because we mi
ght
prefer a gui is a stretch. But since it was put forth as two questions...

*my* answers are: yes, no... YMMV
