When I try to start IE from within windows under win4lin
up comes a window saying:
Welcome to MSN Internet Access!
blah
blah
We need to install a modem before continuing
blah
blah
If I say "continue" another window pops up with the helpful message:
An unexpected error has occurred. Please call MSN technical support.
So I am unable to ever get IE to start. I've read the bit about
networking in the win4lin user's guide and it tells me that I
essentially need to do nothing to enable networking under win4lin.
Just don't install the windows drivers.
I checked the control panel entry and there's no windows networking
stuff installed. I've tried to do my homework and come up empty. Can
someone please advice me? (Please don't tell me to use netscape under
Linux. I have my reasons for needing IE under Win4lin.)
I am running win4lin 1.0 with update 4 under
Mandrake 7.1, kernel 2.2.15.
I have windows 98 and Office 2000 installed under win4lin.
My (ethernet) networking under mandrake is working fine.
Also when I bring up a DOS command line w/in win4lin I can telnet
out so the network can be seen from there at least.
