I think so, for a couple of reasons (I'm presuming to know a lot about
what Netraverse is thinking here. I am probably incorrect):
- The software didn't really time out. You (and I, for that matter),
opted to 'upgrade' to a version of the OS that wasn't 'available' at the
time the software was released, and as it turns out, is incompatible.
- Netraverse could have spent engineering effort on making W4L 2.0
compatible with kernel 2.4, but (apparently) decided to roll that into
their current development effort for W4L 3.0. I can't say I blame them.
I always prefer to work on my 'new and perfect' code, rather than that
crap I wrote 6 months ago!
- To 'make up' for not including the 2.4 kernel support in the 2.0
version, they are giving everyone who gave them money since August a free
upgrade to the new version.
Regardless of whether or not they offer a discount to those who bought
1.0, I think they are being very fair to their users.
