Sorry about that. I sent similiar messages to the beta and to the users
list, and I left out a key topic to the users list. A consequence of reading
what you "thought" was there.
Here is what I left out:
-----
Due to the aggressive deadlines set by management we have had to select
beta sites in order to ensure our testing directives are met. Therefore, we
are managing a pool of beta sites through our re-organized Quality
Assurance and Testing department.
We realize the value of a broad public beta and also know in order to
capitalize on that we must do our part. We will not be soliciting a public
beta till we can get our beta testing infrastructure in place.
-----
This was a decision based on the circumstances of today, and will surely
prove to be unpopular to many. However we're comfortable that the decision
to not offer a public beta is the right one for this release. The onus is on
us to make sure the QA and testing is done and a quality product is
released. Future beta programs and procedures have not yet been defined.
Regards,
Mike
